Lean Beef Lowers Cholesterol

Woo woo!!!!  With a family history of high cholesterol, I was more than excited when I read about a recent study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition stating that a diet that includes cuts of lean beef can help lower both total and LDL (a.k.a. "bad") cholesterol levels!  Here's a link to the facts sheet.  BOLD (Beef Optimal Lean Diet)

The study, conducted by researchers at Pennsylvania State University, compares the changes in cholesterol levels when participants followed four different heart healthy diets.

Who says you can't have red meat if you care about your heart and cholesterol?!  What you need are smart choices, lean cuts, and portion control.  Beefnutrition.org is a great place to head if you're looking for information or ideas on how to prepare that nice sirloin steak you just grabbed at the store.  The Healthy Beef Cookbook is another resource I turn to time and again for inspiration.
